Khrenovukha is a traditional Ukrainian homemade infused vodka flavored with fresh horseradish root, sometimes garlic, honey, and spices. It has a strong, pungent aroma, warming taste, and is often served during winter holidays or family feasts.
Prepare horseradish. Peel and slice horseradish root into thin strips or small cubes.
Combine ingredients. Place horseradish, peppercorns, and garlic (optional) into a clean glass jar.
Add vodka and honey. Pour vodka into the jar, add honey if you prefer a milder taste.
Infuse. Seal the jar and leave it in a cool, dark place for 3–5 days. Shake daily.
Strain and bottle. Strain the infusion through cheesecloth or a fine sieve into a clean bottle.
Serve. Serve chilled in small shot glasses with hearty Ukrainian dishes like salo or pickles.
