  1. Prepare the dough. In a bowl, beat the egg with salt, then add milk and melted butter. Gradually add flour and knead a soft dough.

  1. Shape the dumplings. On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rope and cut into small pieces (2–3 cm each).

  1. Boil water. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

  1. Cook the dumplings. Drop the dough pieces into boiling water and cook until they float (about 5–7 min).

  1. Serve. Remove with a slotted spoon, drizzle with butter or serve with fried onions or sour cream.
