Soft, fluffy Ukrainian dumplings from Poltava, made with simple ingredients — flour, egg, and milk. Traditionally served with butter, fried onions, or sour cream. A comforting, authentic taste of Ukraine.
Prepare the dough. In a bowl, beat the egg with salt, then add milk and melted butter. Gradually add flour and knead a soft dough.
Shape the dumplings. On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rope and cut into small pieces (2–3 cm each).
Boil water. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Cook the dumplings. Drop the dough pieces into boiling water and cook until they float (about 5–7 min).
Serve. Remove with a slotted spoon, drizzle with butter or serve with fried onions or sour cream.
